Open studios on Tamborine Mountain, Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th May 2012.

12 Local Tamborine Mt Artists’ Studios will open their doors to the public. Come up, observe and interact with the artists as they demonstrate their works in progress.

Studios are open from 9am thru 5pm on the days indicated.

Appointments can be made outside of these times directly with the artist. Most of the work on display in the studios is for sale and the majority of artists are able to undertake commissions, and many are available for workshops and artists’ residencies.

May is a great month to visit Tamborine Mountain. Our National Parks and Gardens look great and there are plenty of birds and native fauna to see. The leaves on the deciduous trees have changed colours and are beginning to fall on the ground creating a very beautiful natural carpet.

We have had the fireplace warming the lounge room and a glass of local wine or port in front of the fire is very hard to beat.

We have just experienced the 4 day “Garterbelts and Gasoline Festival “ on the Mountain. This is a great festival with numerous and spectaular cars on display as well as fashions from the ‘50s and ‘60s. We had guests from New Caledonia travel all the way to our Bed and Breakfast just to experience the Festival.

Winter is fast approaching and we are getting ready for “Christmas in July” festivities. Restaurants such as “Bungunyah Manor” (one of our favourites) get very involved with this theme.

This is one of the best times of the year to come and stay at Tamborine Mountain Bed and Breakfast with a group of friends or just for a quiet getaway.

Take one hot-blooded Italian Opera Composer, a great tenor, the very best arias, and the scent of an Italian kitchen and you get A Touch of Puccini, A Taste of Pavarotti.

Luciano Pavarotti’s love of food equalled his passion for music, and on Saturday May 12th, Eagle’s Nest come alive with a fusion of Pavarotti’s favourite recipes with his best-loved Operatic arias and Neapolitan songs.

‘One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating’, said the great man himself, and that is our recipe at Eagle’s Nest, where the dinner and concert segments are interspersed so there is time to devote your attention to the beautiful music, and then to the enjoyable task of a good meal in congenial company, in the unique setting of Eagle’s Nest.

The overture begins with the maestro’s own recipe, Linguini Pavarotti, light and delicately balanced to set the mood for the lilting opening set of effervescent arias and songs. Act 1, the flavours deepen with Vitello Balsamic, answered with the passion of Puccini, his contemporaries and his rivals! Act 2 reaches a fitting crescendo with Sacripantino, a classic Genoese confection as rich and delicious as Pavarotti’s golden voice, and a perfect Finale with the most melting and romantic arias and duets.

The warm glow of the log fire, a glass of wine, and good company, and to be serenaded by the romantic and uplifting music of these great sons of Italy — this is opera for all the senses!

We are having our best spell of fine weather for quite some time and Tamborine Mountain is very busy. Perhaps having the State Election over and a new Government elected is making people more prepared to enjoy themselves.

As usual there is a lot to see and do on Tamborine Mountain. With autumn bringing a change in the deciduous trees, the colours are spectacular. Our early morning walks with Elle our dog are even more enjoyable than ever.

We are late writing this newsletter and Easter is upon us. The B&B is nearly booked out and most accommodation businesses are putting out the “No Vacancy” signs.

Most of the Tourist businesses will be open over Easter and the Country Markets at the Showground will be held Easter Sunday.

Why not come up to the Mountain and enjoy the great weather, stay overnight and enjoy the great food and wine on offer.

We shall be at the Brisbane Travel Show on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th April on the Scenic Rim stand together with Tourism Operators from all over the Scenic Rim Region. If you are close to Brisbane this is a good opportunity to see what we and other areas can offer you as a travel destination.

A reminder that the Garterbelts & Gasoline Festival is on again this year, a 4 day fun festival over the labour day long weekend commencing Friday 4th May thru Monday 7th May. Marks & Gardner Gallery is committed to exhibiting quality contemporary art by established and emerging Australian artists. The innovative exhibition program presents exhibitions by contemporary painters, sculptors, printmakers, jewellers and designers, together with focus exhibitions including original illustrations from children’s books, and an annual ceramic exhibition.

The exhibition calendar changes every 4 weeks.

Marks and Gardner Gallery is located on beautiful Tamborine Mountain, nestled in the Gold Coast Hinterland, only a 35 minute drive from the Gold Coast beaches and one hour from busy Brisbane. Tamborine Mountain is famous for its natural beauty, cool rainforests, waterfalls, expansive views and national parks.

The gallery is surrounded by 5 park like acres, with Witches Falls Winery located immediately beside the gallery and other attractions close by.

The Verandah Café is open Wednesday to Sunday 9am – 4pm on the large and roomy rear deck, allowing visitors to enjoy the ambience of the quality art over a light lunch, coffee or glass of wine (we are Licensed).

A most delightful spot to while away an afternoon surrounded by quality artwork and nature at its best.

Autumn is now with us and the days are getting shorter. Will not be long before the fireplace will be in use.

A really lovely time of year on Tamborine Mountain, with lots to see and do. The waterfalls are all flowing very well and the National Park walks are very popular. The deciduous trees are beginning to change colour, a very pleasant time to enjoy a walk in nature.

Like most of South East Queensland, we have had a lot of rain and we suggest you check road conditions before coming to the mountain. Remember there are four good roads to get you to Tamborine Mountain safely.

We have vacancies for the Easter period (minimum two night stay). Two nights for $380.00, including breakfast each morning. Each booking will receive a complimentary bottle of bubbly on arrival.

We are into the last month of summer now and we are experiencing mild weather for this time of year, with lots of summer rain, probably more than last year. Welcome 2012, farewell 2011!

We hope you all had a great Christmas/New Year.

Tamborine Mountain was blessed with fairly good weather for the Festive Season and our Visitors had plenty of activities to keep them occupied. December has been mild with temperatures staying below average, very pleasant for exploring our National Parks and other attractions.

If you have not been to Tamborine Mountain for a while, why not come up for a midweek or weekend stay during January? We have very attractive packages available (please call +61 7 5545 3595 for full details), and Tamborine Mountain is at its best.
