Dreamscapes Art Exhibition at Gallery Works

Richard Roper
Richard’s watercolour and ink paintings are inspired by dreams and images from the surrealist tradition.
Beatrice O’Connell is an artist visiting Australia.
Her work engages with social and environmental history. Beginning in her home town of Dublin, she draws on her personal archive documenting her travels.
Beatrice explores themes of isolation and vulnerability drawn from her personal experience. She continually questions her relationship with her surroundings.
These questions form a narrative from which strong visual metaphors emerge in the form of a collection of paintings, etchings and drawings.
Theatre, music and folklore are referenced to explore mythologies from many cultures.
Works by well known Australian artists such as David Boyd and Melissa Egan are also represented in this exhibition.
Dreamscapes Exhibition Opening at 2pm Saturday 24th November – all welcome to attend and have a drink with the artists.
Exhibition concludes Monday 30th January 2013

Kosmos Art Exhibition Joannah Underhill – Tamborine Mountain

Artwork by Joannah Underhill
Well-known Brisbane based artist, Joannah Underhill, is presenting her latest body of work at Hilltop on Tamborine on the 4th November to the 2nd December.
The artist has been collaborating with Dr Nick Hamilton and John Griffin from the University of Queensland’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience over the past year looking at cells and sub-cellular structures under the microscope. The work in Kosmos is part of an ongoing series of works the artist has been developing as a result of this residency and the collaboration was named one of the Ten Most Innovative in the country by The Australian newspaper.
Kosmos in its philosophical meaning is the word used by the ancient Greeks to describe the world or the orderly universe. In a sense it is about the essence of the here and now, the sum total of the arrangement of the world as it exists in this moment.
The work in ‘Cosmos, by artist Joannah Underhill, is about presence and the celebration of nature and life, as it is. It is about beauty, acceptance, creation and celebration of the fragility of life. It is born out of the artist’s personal experience and is joyously, tenderly coaxed into a new existence and interpretation of life that ultimately honours the cosmic nature of it.
Original works will be on sale for the duration of the exhibition.
Opening hours from 10 am to 4 pm from Wednesday to Sunday, closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Hilltop on Tamborine presents contemporary Australian art in cooperation with local artists. The exhibitions change every four to six weeks.
